People Who Became Famous After Age 40

Career late-bloomers are special. They have often endured hardships and made incredible sacrifices to earn what they've achieved. However, their contributions to our society are outstanding. Here are few dynamic older adults who shine in their vocations.

1. Alan Rickman - on his first movie role at age 46. He is best known for playing the scathingly moody Professor Snape in the Harry Potter series.

2. Kathryn Joosten - once unemployed, this former nurse won an Emmy award at age 56. Sometimes a career change is all you need!

3. Peter Roget - developed the first thesaurus at age 73. Writing the thesaurus was said to be a product of his mental illness, which included obsessive list-making habits.
