occupational therapy 300 x 200Occupational therapists play an important role in helping people of all ages perform tasks important to their everyday lives.

April’s designation as Occupational Therapy Month makes it a perfect time to learn more about and celebrate the important role these therapists make in the lives of their patients.

Many of Embassy Healthcare’s communities feature outpatient rehabilitation and therapy services for those recovering from surgery or illness. Our occupational therapists’ treatments, prescribed by physicians, help individuals live more independently, able to perform tasks that are part of their daily routine.

Some of these tasks may include:

  • Eating
  • Dressing
  • Grooming/Toileting
  • Laundry
  • Cooking/Using Microwave
  • Transferring from Bed/Chair

Embassy therapists also work with family members to educate them on how they can safely assist their loved ones.

As part of the treatment program, therapists often conduct the following services:

  • Perform a customized evaluation to help determine the individual’s lifestyle goals
  • Tailored intervention plan to aid the person’s ability to perform activities to reach goals
  • Monitor outcomes of intervention plan, determining if goals are being met and if adjustments are necessary
